PROFILE
Infrastructure engineer with six years in IT, including three in infrastructure operations. Contributes to scoped access reviews, service investigations and recovery exercises, turning technical observations into clear recommendations and practical handovers. Developing towards security design through supervised reviews, with a focus on explaining the options, testing the agreed scope and documenting the decision.
EXPERIENCE
Infrastructure Engineer · Northstar Cloud (fictional)
Birmingham · 2023–present
• Work with platform engineers and service owners to investigate incidents, review support access and prepare controlled changes. Agree the test plan and decision owner before starting.
• Produce access matrices, recommendation notes and handovers. Record the selected option, operational overhead and follow-up needed after approval.
• Contribute to supervised recovery exercises and cross-team incident reviews. Check user journeys and clarify handovers with the relevant owner.
IT Support Analyst · Fieldwork Technology (fictional)
Birmingham · 2020–2023
• Investigated desktop, account and connectivity requests using recorded diagnostic checks. Explained the next action to users and escalated account changes through the agreed approval route.
• Maintained troubleshooting notes and clear ticket handovers, separating observed symptoms from the suspected cause. Developed a foundation for infrastructure support.
SELECTED WORK
Supplier access review · Workplace · September 2026
• Mapped three support tasks to permissions and compared a shared administrator account with named, time-limited access. Recommended the scoped option and documented its provisioning and expiry-check overhead.
• Recorded a supervised test in which the agreed task succeeded and an unrelated administrative action was denied. After group membership was removed, a new session could no longer restart the service.
• Prepared a handover covering the support window, removal owner, deputy and escalation contact. The platform engineer configured the group and the service owner approved the recommendation for this service.
Incident handover improvement · Workplace · August 2026
• Reconstructed an account-incident timeline from approved records and identified an unacknowledged transfer between teams. Drafted a checklist covering a named task owner, acknowledgement and next update time.
• Facilitated a tabletop replay with both teams, revised an ambiguous ownership instruction and checked the new wording in a second replay. The revised checklist was agreed for a trial; live response-time impact was not measured.
Recovery exercise · Non-production · September 2026
• Defined and checked a representative sign-in and read-only journey after an isolated restore performed by a platform engineer. Compared observations with the agreed sample dataset.
• Tested an unavailable dependency, identified a missing recognition step and worked with the runbook owner on a pre-check and escalation route. Results cover the tested journey; production recovery time was not measured.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Access reviews: task-to-permission mapping, least-privilege options, supervised removal checks
Service investigation: diagnostic observations, incident timelines, escalation and handovers
Recovery: representative user journeys, dependency checks, runbook review
Communication: access matrices, recommendation notes, peer walkthroughs, service-owner review
TRAINING
Drafting a data flow for a file-transfer change, with trust boundaries awaiting owner validation. Architect shadowing is agreed; no control recommendation has been approved. Formal design-board presentation remains a development goal.
